Soon, update Aadhaar, PAN at airports and railway stations.

Aadhaar e-KYC Card and PAN Card updation help in making changes and corrections to the details provided in an individual's Aadhaar Card and PAN Card. A change or correction in the card holder's name, age, date of birth, name of parent/spouse, and address can be done through updation. With no sufficient amount of Common Services Centres (CSC), the process of updation of these cards could be quite time-consuming. Considering this difficulty, the Government of India has decided to open several CSC's at Post Offices, Railway Stations and Airports all across the country to update PAN cards and Aadhaar Cards. Updation of e-KYCs will be made much easier once these CSC's are set up.

Why Is E-KYC Updation Important?

Aadhaar e-KYC helps in availing different kinds of benefits from the government and in getting supply services from different providers quickly. Through the process of Aadhaar authentication, the card holder's personal information (demographic and biometric details) gets submitted to the Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI) to confirm his/her identity.

The KYC information of the cardholder like her name, date of birth, gender, photograph, address, and mobile phone number are provided to the entities by the UIDAI without compromising on security. To get a confirmation from the UIDAI regarding the personal information of the cardholder the details provided in the Aadhaar e-KYC needs to be correct. Hence, any mistakes or change in the personal information on these e-KYC cards needs to be corrected or changed through updation.

Setting Up Of New Common Service Centres (CSCs)

The residents of India can update their Aadhar cards and PAN cards while waiting at a railway station or an airport or any post offices nearby. The government plans to set up several new CSCs within Mumbai and Delhi which includes
  • 200 railway stations
  • 15 airports
  • 25,000 post offices
  • 50 metro stations
The government's plan also includes setting up of CSCs in -
  • 2000 slum all across India
Depending on how the public responds to it during the first year the government plans to add more numbers of CSCs during the following years. Currently, there are around 3.8 lakh CSCs all over India. With the increase in the number of CSCs people can access several services including e-KYC card updation online. This will also minimize the wastage of time
