Aadhaar Card Address Updation: Online And Offline
Issued by the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), the Aadhaar card contains an individual’s biometric information and personal details like name, date of birth and address along with a unique identification number that has 12 digits. Through the process of Aadhaar authentication, the identity of the person can be proved. - Update your Aadhaar card online.
- Update it offline by visiting the closest enrollment center.
How To Update The Address Online?
Updating the address online is quite simple. All that you require is a computer or a smartphone with an internet connection. The mobile number registered with your Aadhaar has to be valid. This is because an OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to this number to verify your request.
You need to follow the steps given below.
- Log on to the official website of UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India)- https://uidai.gov.in
- Click on "Update Aadhaar" and from the drop-down button choose the option "Update Address Online".
- You’ll be directed to a self-service portal where you have to click on the icon –Update Your Address -You should have a valid proof of address.
- (You need to request for address validation in case you do not have address proof).
- Enter your Aadhaar card number, type in the Captcha code correctly and click on the button to request for an OTP.
- Enter the OTP sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.
- Click on the button that says log in.
- Click on the button to update your address and enter the same address that is mentioned on your address proof and verify it. You also need to attach a valid proof of address.
- Click on the submit button to update it.
- Get your details verified by choosing a service provider(BPO).
- You’ll get an Update Request Number (URN) that you can download or print.
- Use this URN to track the status of your request.
Offline Method- Approach An Enrollment Centre
You need to approach an enrollment center that is closest to you and do the following.
- Fill in the application for the correction of Aadhaar.
- Submit it to the executive along with a valid proof of address.
- The executive verifies and manually updates it on the software.
- A biometric Aadhaar authentication is done by the executive.
- On completing the process of Aadhaar authentication successfully you get your URN.
- Pay Rs.25 as charges.
Details on your Aadhaar card including the address can also be changed or updated by forwarding a request by post to the UIDAI. The address proof needs to be attached. Aadhaar card is essential for the citizens of India to avail subsidies and other benefits from the government and different services from providers and institutions. However, the information on your Aadhaar card needs to be free of errors and up to date to prevent unwanted difficulties while using it for verification.
