How to check your URN status?

how to check your urn status?

The Aadhaar is one of the most important of all documents to prove the identity of an Indian resident. Aadhaar eKYC helps in establishing the identity of the individual. Aadhaar eKYC can be done in real-time through the process of Aadhaar authentication, where the biometric and demographic details of the individual get submitted to the UIDAI. The UIDAI stores all the information of the Aadhaar holder on their database. Once the verification is completed, the UIDAI responds with a 'Yes'/'No'.

It is important that the individual updates the demographic and biometric details in the Aadhaar whenever there is a change/correction.  An application for Aadhaar updation must be submitted along with the supporting documents. Following this process, the individual will receive a URN which can be used to check the status of Aadhaar updation.

So, what exactly is a URN?

  • URN stands for Update Request Number.
  • This number is allocated to the individual who has applied to make corrections in the Aadhaar data.
  • The application for Aadhaar updation/correction may be submitted online or in-person.
  • URN is allocated to everyone who's requested for corrections in Aadhaar (online/offline).
  • Once you've submitted a change request, this number gets automatically generated.
  • You mustn't lose this number.
  • You must have this number to check your Aadhaar URN status.
  • You cannot check the status of your Aadhaar updation request in case you lose the Update Request Number.
