How To Check Aadhaar Authentication History Online?

How To Check Aadhaar Authentication History Online?

Whether you plan to buy a property, open a loan account, take a new phone/mobile connection, or enter in a legal contract/agreement in India the first thing that will be asked of you is your Aadhaar ID. Aadhaar online KYC is one of the most important steps carried out to prove the identity of the individual living in India.

The Government of India has also made it mandatory to link several schemes with the Aadhaar of the Indian citizen or an Indian resident. There have been several instances where the Aadhaar details of individuals have been misused by fraudsters. As a result, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now introduced a way through which your Aadhaar authentication history can be checked regularly by visiting the official website of the UIDAI.

What Do You Mean By Aadhaar Authentication History?

Every time an Aadhaar is invoked to get a particular service or benefits from the government and other authorities the transaction gets registered in the database of the UIDAI. The UIDAI does not store personal details, biometric and demographic information of the individual. The information that is saved during such events includes the following.

  • What type of transaction it was? (OTP based or biometric/demographics-based)

  • Authentication authority (UIDAI, ITD, CDAC, EPFO, NIC).

  • The date and time.

  • The Aadhaar transaction ID.

  • Response code from the UIDAI.

  • The response following Aadhaar authentication- Success/failure.

  • Error code from the UIDAI (Not in all cases).

There are mainly 6 types of authentications (done for various transactions) that the UIDAI permits the users to check. They are:

  • OTP based

  • Biometric

  • Demographic

  • Biometric and demographic

  • OTP and demographic

  • OTP and Biometric

A specific range of dates can be selected for viewing your Aadhaar based authentication history.  The maximum range permitted by the UIDAI is six months. You can view only up to 50 records at a time. In case you are searching for a specific transaction you are required to select the relevant range of date and the type of authentication chosen for that particular transaction.
