How to Lock Aadhaar Biometric Data?
The process of locking and unlocking your biometric data on Aadhaar is quite easy and simple. To do it online, follow the steps given below.
- Step 1 – Log on to the official portal of the UIDAI.
- Step 2 - Click on the Aadhaar services section.
- Step 3 – You need to click on the Lock UID option.
- Step 4 – You need to enter the 12 digits unique identification number.
- Step 5 – Enter the security code.
- Step 6 – Select the send OTP button.
- Step 7 – You’ll get an OTP on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card.
- Step 8 – Type in the OTP.
- Step 9 – Select the Login icon.
- Step 10 – This allows you to lock your Aadhaar biometric data.
- Step 11 – Type in the security code (4 Digits) that appears on the screen.
- Step 12 – Select the ‘Enable’ Icon.
- Step 13 – Your Aadhaar biometric information has now been locked.
How to unlock it?
To unlock your biometric data:
- Select the ‘Login’ option.
- Type in your Aadhaar number and security code.
- Select the send OTP option.
- Type in the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Click on the ‘Login’ option.
- Enter the security code.
- Select the ‘Unlock’ option.
- Biometric details will be unlocked temporarily for 10 minutes.
- The biometric details will be locked automatically.
To avoid the mishandling of the biometric information stored on your Aadhaar you can now lock this data stored on the servers of UIDAI. All you have to do is to follow the above-mentioned steps.
