The Aadhaar issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India or the UIDAI is the most important of all documents proving the identity of an Indian citizen/resident. Recently it was announced by the UIDAI that there will be a fee for the updation of Aadhaar. The charges to update your biometric details will be Rupees 100 whereas the fee to update your demographic details will continue to be Rupees 50.
The Aadhaar contains a unique 12 digit number for identification as well as the biometric information and demographic details of the individual. Aadhaar eKYC is done to prove the identity of the individual. Aadhaar based eKYC is carried out through Aadhaar authentication where the details of the individual get submitted to the UIDAI. Based on the information stored on the Aadhaar database, the UIDAI responds with a yes/no.
