How to link Aadhaar with ration card?

The Indian government has directed its citizens to link their Ration cards to their Aadhaar by March 2020. The mobile number linked to your Aadhaar is required to be attached to your ration cards. In addition to the ration card, you can use the UIDAI issued document for ekyc purposes at banks and online payment wallets.

Ration Card

The rations card issued by the government serves as the legal proof of identity with which the people living in India can get fuel and food at a very cheap price (subsidized rate).

  • These cards are issued based on the economic background of each individual.
  • Ration cards have been classified into 3: Antyodaya, APL (Above Poverty Line), and BPL (Below Poverty Line).
  • The ration card ensures that a poor person living in our country has access to fuel and food products at a much cheaper price than its market price.

Aadhaar ekyc and Ration Card

  • The central government are in the process of introducing ‘One nation one ration card’ scheme.
  • The scheme is expected to come in to effect beginning from the 1st of June 2020.
  • Once your ration cards and Aadhaar cards are linked you get access to your share of food and fuel from ration shops operating anywhere in India.
  • The identity of an individual can be established through the process of Aadhaar authentication.
  • This will prevent the fraudulent practices carried out by the Ration shop contractors and ensure the deserving citizens are not denied their share of food and fuel at a subsidized rate.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Removal of duplicating identities and ensure benefits are not being misused by the customer.
  • There have been cases where the same individual has been issued more than one ration card.
