BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is an initiative to make quick and safe digital transactions using a mobile phone. This is a payment app and uses UPI (Unified Payments Interface) to facilitate instant payments.
Direct bank transactions can be made to an individual on UPI using this app.
This can be done using the UPI ID of that person or by scanning the QR code on their BHIM app.
Through this app, an individual can also request money using a UPI ID.
BHIM permits its users to create custom UPI ID as well.
Users are also permitted to carry out digital transactions (send and receive payments digitally) through Aadhaar authentication using this app. Users are permitted to accept payments from banks by authenticating his/her biometrics. She/he must be an account holder of one of the acquiring banks that are active on the BHIM Aadhaar Pay.
Currently, Aadhaar online KYC is one of the most important steps for customer onboarding and carrying out financial transactions in India. The Aadhaar is issued by the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). This document contains a unique 12 digit number for identification. The card also stores the personal information and biometric and demographic details of the individual. Aadhaar based online KYC helps in confirming the identity of the individual.
How To Change UPI ID?
BHIM app allows its users to change her/his UPI ID if they wish to do so. Follow the detailed instructions given below to get your UPI ID changed on BHIM App.
Click on the BHIM app icon on your mobile phone to open the app.
Now click open your profile.
Click on the 'Menu' button.
(The three dots situated on the right side of your screen and at the top)
From the drop-down button, select the option 'Settings'
You need to select the 'Edit' option from the list that appears.
Now you have to type in the new UPI ID that you wish to have.
Wait to see if that particular ID is available or not.
If it is not available, you need to type in a different UPI ID.
If it is available, you'll have to click on the 'Verify and Confirm option."
The user will be requested to verify and confirm the ID once again.
Once accepted, you can start using your new UPI ID.
How To Get A Customized UPI ID?
When an individual uses BHIM App, she/he can get a customized UPI (Unified Payments Interface) ID. BHIM App permits its users to do so. So, how can you get your UPI ID customized on this app? Those of you who have downloaded the BHIM app on your mobile phone and have created a profile on it can get your UPI ID customized.
Follow the step-by-step instructions given below to get a customized UPI ID in this app.
Click on the BHIM app icon to open it.
Type in your 'Passcode' to log in to this app.
Select the ‘My Information’ section
Click on the 'Profile' option.
You'll find your current UPI ID and QR code there.
Select the ‘Add UPI ID’ option
Type in the UPI ID that you require
Check its availability
Don't forget to add your name to it.
Click on the 'Confirm' button.
Your customized UPI ID is now ready to use
You can set your customized UPI ID as your primary option. To do so, you are required to select the option 'Major' that you find adjacent to your new UPI ID.
