If you have an account with the State Bank of India (SBI) and receive benefits or subsidies from the government, you will need to link your bank account with your Aadhaar number. This is mandatory for anyone receiving a Direct Bank Transfer (DBT). This includes subsidies on LPG cylinders, student scholarships and benefits offered by the National Child Labour Project. There are a total of 74 schemes under DBT.

Linking Aadhaar number through SBI Branches
You can also link your Aadhaar number with your bank account at any SBI bank branch in your city.
To link your bank account and Aadhaar, you will need to submit a request letter with a copy of your Aadhaar card. Once verified, your Aadhaar number will be linked to your account by the bank officials. You will be updated on the status of this process via SMS on your registered phone number.
Checking what bank accounts your Aadhaar card is linked to
You can check the accounts linked to your Aadhaar number at any time by visiting the UIDAI website. Here are the steps.
Visit www.uidai.gov.in
Hover over the ‘MyAadhaar’ tab and select the ‘Check Aadhaar/Bank Account Linking Status’ option
Enter your Aadhaar number and the security code as shown on the website
Enter the OTP as received via SMS on your registered phone number
The website will then list the bank accounts linked to your Aadhaar card.
It is important to note that the Supreme Court has ruled that an Aadhaar card linking to bank accounts is not mandatory for everyone. This is required only if you benefit from DBT. Once seeded, all benefits or subsidy linked to your Aadhaar account will be credited directly to your SBI bank account.
