Aadhaar card is essential for an Indian citizen to get governmental benefits and subsidies. Today several institutions and service providers have made Aadhaar eKYC mandatory to avail their services. Each Aadhaar has a unique 12 digit number for identification as well as the demographic and biometric information of the individual. Aadhaar based eKYC helps in proving the identity of the individual. Aadhaar eKYC is carried out through the process of Aadhaar authentication. In this process, the biometric details, as well as the personal information of the individual, gets submitted with the UIDAI to get her/his identity verified and confirmed.

How To Retrieve Your Aadhaar?


Applicants who have recently enrolled themselves for an Aadhaar, as well as the existing Aadhaar holders, can submit a request on the UIDAI website for the retrieval of a lost EID/UID. 
  • Services related to Aadhaar can be availed online only if your mobile number or email address has been registered with your Aadhaar.
  • Your mobile number/email ID must be linked to your Aadhaar to retrieve a lost Aadhaar number.

Steps To Retrieve Your Aadhaar Online


To retrieve your lost Aadhaar online you need to follow the steps given below.
  • Log on to https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ the official website of UIDAI.
  • Select the option Retrieve Lost UID/EID.
  • You’ll be directed to a new page.
  • Select one of the two options- ‘Retrieve Aadhaar Enrollment Number’ or ‘Retrieve Aadhaar Number’.
  • Type in your Name, Email ID/ Mobile Number/(Registered with your Aadhaar).
  • Enter the Captcha code.
  • Select ‘Send OTP’.
  • Enter the OTP received for verification.
  • On successful verification, the EID/Aadhaar Number will be sent to the registered mobile number/email ID.
  • Provide the UID/EID to download a copy of your Aadhaar online.
  • Select ‘Send OTP’ to receive it on your RMN (Registered Mobile Number).
  • Enter the OTP in the required space.
  • Select the option ‘Verify and Download'.
  • A copy will be downloaded in the PDF format.
  • Take a printout of this file.

Steps To Retrieve Your Aadhaar Offline


Those of you who do not have access to the internet can retrieve your EID/UID through offline methods. Follow the steps given below.
  • Dial 1947 the toll-free number of the UIDAI.
  • Speak to the representative at the customer service section.
  • Inform her/him regarding the lost EID/UID.
  • Provide the details requested for verification.
  • On successful completion of verification, you’ll receive the duplicate copy of your Aadhaar through the post.
You can also choose to visit the closest Aadhaar Enrollment Center in person to retrieve your lost EID/UID and to get a duplicate copy of your Aadhaar.
