Within a span of a few years, the Aadhaar card issued by the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has become one of the most important of all documents for identification for an Indian citizen/resident. Aadhaar based online KYC is done using Aadhaar authentication to establish the identity of the individual in real-time.
Today Aadhaar online KYC is the most important step for identification of individuals, availing governmental subsidies and other benefits, onboarding of customers, and carrying out all major financial transactions. The government of India has made it mandatory for Indian citizens to link their Aadhaar card to several governmental and private schemes and services. Only then can the individual enjoy the benefits and services attached to those particular schemes.
Linking the driver’s license of an Indian citizen/resident to their Aadhaar was made mandatory by the Indian government a few years ago. However, the decision had to be revoked following a ruling by the Supreme Court of India.
Once again the Indian government is planning to make it mandatory to link the individual’s Aadhaar with her/his driver’s license. The decision is being made to put an end to forgery and to prevent issuing duplicate/ more than one driving license to the same individual. So, how can you link your driver’s license to your Aadhaar?
There are two ways by which an individual can link her/his driver’s license and Aadhaar:
